When you work in Hawaii, in addition to learning about the functional aspects of running a hotel — like the proper way to make a bed or how to best handle luggage — it’s critically important to understand Hawaiian culture and the spirit of ‘ohana, or ‘family.’ When opening the first Andaz property in Hawaii, our team participated in Hawaiian culture training to help us understand what ‘ohana truly means.

The general maintenance engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all engineering systems within the hospitality industry. This role involves collaborating with various teams, such as housekeeping, front desk, and management, to deliver exceptional service. The engineer must interact with guests, hotel staff, vendors, and management, providing technical expertise and support. Success in this role is measured by the uptime of critical systems, energy efficiency improvements, and timely completion of maintenance tasks.

Our schedule can range from working Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday.

Must have an open and flexible schedule that includes morning, evening, weekend and holiday shifts

Must be fully available including weekends and holidays

May be required to work overnight shifts

Requires a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance

Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment/smart phones
