Requirements

Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.

Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.

Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.

Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.

Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.

Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.

Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.

Prepare reports for external publication.

Additional Duties

Provide Electrical Design Authority engineering staff augmentation support to the Tritium Projects and Facilities for SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis; Operations, Maintenance, Project, Startup and construction support; walk downs; design reviews, development and generation of design input and output documents including but not limited to:

System Design Descriptions, requirements documents, Single Line Drawings

Electrical Equipment Lists

Control System Design

Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams

Electrical Equipment Specifications

Bulk Material Specifications

Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design

Grounding

Heat Tracing

Fire Detection

Short Circuit Calculations

Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis

Load Flow Analysis

and Electrical System Sizing Calculations.

Work Hours Up to 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10’s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80’s (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB). Work week excludes client holidays. Each workday has 30‑minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Design Authority Manager.

The anticipated work schedule is Mon‑Thurs, 6:00am - 4:30pm.

Travel Travel is not normally required; however, travel may be requested for in‑person discussion with off‑site vendors, witness of engineering hold‑points during fabrication, witness of factory acceptance testing or other Subject Matter Expertise services as requested.

Area Security Access Clearance “Q” Required. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.

Qualifications

Considered an internal expert in area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in field.

Require having 15-20 years of design authority experience in the nuclear industry

Require having working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, ETAP, and OSHA requirements

Require having experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations

Require to be able to walk down systems in the field

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance

EDUCATION

An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience.

Preferred

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years

Prefer having SRS Electrical Design Authority Engineering experience

Prefer having experience designing Lithium‑Ion Battery System as redundant power

Prefer having or previously having DOE Q-clearance
