Ready to build the foundation of your software engineering career in a growth-focused program? Amazon is looking for highly motivated students to join the Jr. Developer Program (JDP). As a Jr. Software Development Engineer (Jr. SDE), you will write real software and collaborate with experienced engineers who provide guidance and opportunities for ownership. As a year‑round intern, you will be fully integrated into a team and regularly contribute to impactful deliverables. Your designs and code will help solve complex technical challenges at Amazon.
The JDP is a year‑round internship program designed to support a strong balance between work and school. You will receive 1:1 mentorship from a full‑time Amazonian for the entirety of your program tenure. Flexible part‑time schedules during the school year and full‑time employment over the summer create an environment where students can succeed both academically and professionally. In San Luis Obispo, an established Jr. community fosters meaningful connections between you and your peers.
Our team is currently looking for students to start with our March 2026 cohort. Upon successful completion of the program, the opportunity for full‑time employment may be available at an Amazon corporate site.
Program Highlights
Part‑time work during the school year (16 hours/week)
Full‑time work during the summer (40 hours/week)
1:1 mentoring with an experienced Amazonian
Bi‑annual performance reviews designed to support ongoing growth and development
Basic Qualifications
Able to start work in March 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous technical internship(s), if applicable.
Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
Ability to solve complex problems and work through ambiguity.

The base pay for this position ranges from $16.83/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $75.63/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
