The purpose of this role is to perform both analytical and procedural functions of General Accounting such as assisting departments with annual budget submissions, monthly review of spending for all departments, review of book and tax asset depreciation, preparation of monthly accrual entries, and various monthly allocations and reconciliations. This position also provides support and backup for invoice processing, expense report processing, use tax filings, and 1099 preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Ownership of monthly expense report review process including the review of spending by department, distribution of monthly spending reports to department managers, and research of variances between actuals and budget with explanations for senior management reporting. Support and backup for invoice processing, expense report processing, 1099 preparation, and unclaimed property processing. Execution of ERP processing cycles including daily disbursements, monthly accounts payable accounting, and monthly fixed asset accounting. Assist with annual budget preparation and review process. Prepare estimated/annual premium tax returns, prepare municipal returns. Ad hoc requests and special projects as assigned. Experience & Qualifications
Five years of corporate accounting, accounts payable, expense analysis or related experience Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT) is a plus Experience with general ledger systems and the ability to research issues via system queries Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Basic understanding of life insurance concepts is a plus Experience in budget analysis is a plus Experience with unclaimed property processing and filing is a plus Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
