How you make a difference The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) provides psychiatric consultation, diagnostic, and treatment services to patients, including medication management and crisis intervention services. They maintain required documentation and adhere to policies, procedures, and state guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop plans of care, and evaluate effectiveness of interventions, including medication management and crisis intervention services.
Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with organization policies, procedures, state guidelines, and best practices, including medication education, seclusion/restraint use, infection control, and risk management.
Provide individualized care sensitive to the age and developmental needs of each patient, and participate in on‑call schedules and mandatory committees as required.
Adhere to established formularies for therapeutic regimens and utilize established procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
Assume responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while supporting standards of psychiatric care and providing input into committees and meetings as requested.
Qualifications & Requirements Education
Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
Experience
Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, with psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.
Licenses/Certifications
Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
Additional Details
PRN – working days or evenings, and must fulfill the PRN requirements, including 4 weekend days per month if the needs exist at any of the 4 sites.
