Summary Automation Support Technician provides daily, on-the-floor support to manufacturing and packaging operations within a regulated GMP environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide daily automation support to manufacturing and packaging operations, acting as the primary automation resource on the floor.
Perform PLC maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for automated equipment and packaging systems.
Support HMI interfaces, sensors, drives, and instrumentation, identifying and resolving automation-related issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve automation, control system, and equipment failures to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering teams for corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
Support automation-related change controls, equipment modifications, and system upgrades.
Assist with execution and documentation of IQ/OQ/PQ, equipment characterization, and requalification activities related to automation systems.
Collect, review, backup, and document automation data, alarms, and deviations in accordance with cGMP and SOP requirements.
Provide technical support during line startups, changeovers, shutdowns, and continuous operation.
Ensure compliance with safety, data integrity, and GMP requirements at all times.
Participate in root cause investigations and recommend automation improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Qualifications
Technical degree, associate degree, or equivalent hands‑on experience in Automation, Controls, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field.
Proven experience providing automation support in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
Hands‑on experience with PLC systems (maintenance, troubleshooting, fault diagnostics).
Experience supporting automated packaging or manufacturing equipment.
Strong understanding of GMP, SOPs, and regulated manufacturing environments.
Ability to work independently on the production floor and manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
