About Houston ExxonMobil's state‑of‑the‑art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. What role you will play in our team The Lubricants Product Development Expert role within Finished Lubricants Technology Organization calls for proactive thinking, idea generation, robust interpersonal skills, staying abreast of technological advancements, fostering strong industry connections, applying sound scientific principles, utilizing the latest research tools and technology, collaborating with global teams, occasional travel to engage with internal teams and external customers, proficiency in intellectual property matters, and awareness of environmental safety and regulatory standards.

What you will do

Lead projects from product profile definition to commercial launch, including formulation, finalization and roll‑out support

Develop test plans, conduct analysis and review data

Screen new additive and base stock technologies utilizing bench scale and large scale test rigs

Conduct field trials collaborating with field engineers and customers

Identify intellectual property opportunities

Provide regular project updates to relevant stakeholders

Determine technical readiness for product release

Participate in global, cross‑disciplinary and commercial operation teams to ensure smooth technology hand‑off and product commercialization

Advance understanding of formulation fundamentals and lubricant applications research, understand, and articulate technology trends, standards, customer requirementsand competitive threats

Working closely with Environmental Health and Safety Specialists

Participate in industry committees to help define technical specifications

Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on their requirements and approval testing

Develop reputation as a recognized expert within the company and the Industry

Document project outcome capturing key learnings and future recommendations

Lubricants Formulation Development and Deployment

About you Skills and Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience in lubricants formulation development and deployment

Understanding of physical and chemical properties of lubricant base oils and additives, and their impacts on performance

Strong foundation in statistical analysis, tribology/lubrication theory, and project management

Excellent understanding of physical and chemical analytical techniques

Ability to work in multidisciplinary global teams (e.g. Technical, Sales, Operations and Marketing)

Capable of technical investigation/problem solving

BS/MS/PhD Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Knowledge of mechanical systems in automotive or industrial applications

Ability to link molecular structure to product performance

Understanding in chemical synthesis and advanced molecular characterization tools

Leading third party contract research programs

Basic knowledge in sustainability, data science and artificial intelligence

Preferred skills such as knowledge in molecular structure to product performance relationships would help develop advanced lubricant formulations
