Systems Engineer – System Administration Why This is an Exciting Role: As a Systems Engineer at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A), this position will be supporting the GMD Engineering Development and Early Integration Labs for the Missile Defense Agency. In this role, you will be a Systems Engineer responsible for lab integration representing GMD products with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux efforts. You will assist in lab build‑up and execution of GMD Lab integration for the upgrades, both hardware and software, of all GMD elements and be positioned to support lab integration team flow down requirements, critical testing, and development in different lab environments.

Experience collaborating with teams of engineers, system administrators, network engineers, product subject matter experts, and subcontractors to coordinate all phases of development and integration

Best practices for engineering development and configuration management

Provide comprehensive end-to-end computing support in closed environments, from desktops to servers

Upgrading, installing, and configuring application software and computer hardware

Creating and managing system permissions and user accounts

Performing regular security tests and security monitoring

Maintaining networks and network file systems

Coordinating security relevant changes of both hardware and software components, and network with the ISSO for compliance

Working effectively, and semi‑autonomously, in a rapid pace team environment

Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and administering support for Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) servers/workstations

Managing local servers and virtual machines (Azure, VMWare)

Implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide(s) (STIGs)

Experience and Qualifications: To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Level 2: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Qualifications:

US Citizenship required

CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 / DoD 8140 compliant)

CompTIA Linux+

Strong problem‑solving skills

Mid‑career computing knowledge level of the following: Networking (Cisco), Linux, Windows

Good verbal and written communication skills, must be able to work independently and will possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment

Desired Qualifications:

Government contracts and/or sub‑contracts experience

Experience in GMD program

Experience and understanding of Cyber Security Requirements

Experience utilizing network management software (SolarWinds)

Experience with Palo‑Alto firewalls

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification

Experience with TrueNAS

Experience with Ansible

Experience with MFA

Experience with scripts for automation

Telework/Remote Availability: Telework/Remote work currently not authorized

Summary Pay Range: Level 2: $76,000 - $118,000

Level 3: $93,000 - $145,000
