Job Title Software Engineer – Telemetry
Location Hawthorne, NY (on-site)
Type Full time, regular
Compensation $150,000 – $175,000/yr
Clarapath is a medical robotics company based in Westchester County, NY. Our mission is to transform and modernize laboratory workflows with the goal of improving patient care, decreasing costs, and enhancing the quality and consistency of laboratory processes. SectionStar™ by Clarapath is a ground-breaking electro‑mechanical system designed to elevate and automate the workflow in histology laboratories and provide pathologists with the tissue samples they need to make the most accurate diagnoses. Through the use of innovative technology, data, and precision analytics, Clarapath is paving the way for a new era of laboratory medicine.
Design, develop, and maintain internal software tools to organize, search, and analyze telemetry data from machines in the field
Build scalable data pipelines to process raw and semi‑structured device data stored in cloud environments
Develop automated filters, alerts, and reporting tools for device errors and system health monitoring
Create tools to summarize error trends across time and across fleets of deployed systems
Implement systems for organizing images and image metadata (ex: QC scores, decision modes, cut depth, session data)
Develop simple UI/UX applications to enable fast, intuitive searching and filtering of telemetry data for engineering, service, and analytics use cases
Support data organization for downstream AI training and analytics initiatives
Collaborate closely with firmware, systems, mechanical, service, and QA teams to define telemetry requirements and data use cases
Work alongside other engineers focused on data transmission and infrastructure to ensure seamless end‑to‑end telemetry workflows
Gather user requirements from internal stakeholders and iterate quickly through prototypes, demos, and feedback cycles
Implement data validation, error handling, and monitoring to ensure platform reliability
Contribute to documentation, testing, and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards
Support ongoing product releases, field deployments, and platform evolution
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of industry software development experience (5+ years preferred)
Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages
Experience working with SQL databases
Experience integrating with cloud services (Google Cloud Platform or similar) and using cloud APIs
Familiarity with Linux‑based systems and writing software that runs via scheduled jobs, user triggers, or external events
Ability to translate user requirements into well‑structured software architectures
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skillsAbility to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and evolving environment
Experience with telemetry systems, logging frameworks, or data streaming (ex: MQTT, gRPC, ROS, custom pipelines), a plus
Experience with Docker or containerized deployment workflows, a plus
Familiarity with embedded systems, hardware–software interfaces, or device communication protocols, a plus
