We're looking for a
Mechanical Design Engineer Level I and II
to join our team and contribute to the design of automation systems and custom tooling. In this role, you'll support projects ranging from small R&D initiatives to large-scale production equipment. Working closely with senior engineers, you'll help translate customer requirements into clear specifications and provide design support across multiple projects. Since most projects are interdisciplinary, you'll collaborate with engineers from different specialties to deliver fully integrated, high-performing solutions. Salary Information: Level I = $65-80K/year and Level II = $80-100K/year
Responsibilities
Designing of systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tools
Integration of off-the-shelf and custom robotics, actuation, sensors, vision systems
Meeting project budgets and schedules and coordinating progress with project stakeholders
CAD and drawing creation, review, and sign-off
Technical mentorship of other Mechanical Design Engineers
Building and testing of prototypes
Working with interdisciplinary teams on controls and software integration
Working with and managing external suppliers
Working with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirements
Supporting equipment deployment at customer sites as needed
Minimum Required Experience
Some experience sizing and specifying actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripherals
Demonstrated talent and track record in automation and/or machine design
Experience using SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software
Knowledge of engineering drawings and tolerances
Exposure to GD&T, Y14.5M-2009
Some knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.)
Exposure to controls and software concepts
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
Demonstrated talent and track record in automation and/or machine or mechanism design
Experience with pneumatic components and systems
BS or higher in engineering field
3+ years in a mechanical design role, in an industrial automation and/or machine building environment
Understanding of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance
Experience in tooling design
Experience in troubleshooting automated equipment
Physical Requirements
Work in standing/sitting position continuously.
Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
Physically be underneath machines working overhead.
Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
VISUAL ACUITY: Near acuity with or without accommodation.
HEARING Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose, with or without accommodation.
