We are hiring for the role of Heavy Equipment Test Engineer at Erie, PA. We have 10 open positions.

Note: Not looking for Masters or bachelors, only Associate degree or diploma holders

Perform all tests with minimum supervision, involving knowledge of power and control electronics, difficult circuits, electrical measurements, electrical theory and calculations, testing operations and data acquisition.

Develop, setup, and execute assigned tests

Attend and contribute to reviews with leads, engineering, EHS, and others when necessary to review, update, approve and perform proposed functionality tests or similar changes

Attend necessary safety and qualification training for working on electrical and mechanical test stands.

Work on and communicate effectively with a cross functional team of technicians, engineers and Safety personnel

Provide technical expertise as needed to ensure test needs are met

Ensure all assigned tests are performed and documented properly

Attend test review/planning meetings as needed

Work Experience

Required Skills:

Associates degree

in Electrical or Electronics Technology or a related technical discipline from an accredited university or college (Or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of Military Technical Training or Electrical/Test experiences)

Hands on electrical troubleshooting capability and experience

Understanding and ability to work with complicated electrical schematics, verbal instructions, and / or drawings

Test Documentation writing/development capability and experience

Ability to meet physical / safety standards for heavy equipment test operations

Ability to work weekends and/or on a rotating shift

Desired Skills:

A minimum of 1 year of work experience in a heavy equipment test related field

Knowledge of AC / DC theory, Digital Electronics, 3 phase power, electric motor mechanics, electric motor theory (AC/DC), rotating machinery testing, electrical and mechanical test instrumentation, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems

Knowledge and/or training on Pneumatic Systems

Ability to properly use and care for assigned tools and equipment

Ability to adhere to standards and do a quality job in a safe and timely manner

Ability to promote climate of cooperation, such as; leading by example mentoring others in Quality, Safety, Environmental, and Lean philosophies

Ability to rotate through all or most of the processes, rather than being assigned to a specific task

Ability to work as part of a team and perform all related duties

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Mostly heavy industrial test environment with work on high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems and heavy mechanical machinery.

Frequent requirement to

lift up to 50 lbs , frequently required to walk, climb, bend, reach outward, and handle materials and tools. Occasionally required to sit, squat and/or kneel.

While performing duties on this job, the employee is exposed to wet or hot, humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level is usually loud. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
