About Seneca Animal Hospital
Seneca Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited, privately owned small and exotic animal practice located in Upstate South Carolina in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are expanding our afternoon and evening urgent care services and are seeking a thoughtful and confident Part-Time Urgent Care Associate Veterinarian to join our established and highly collaborative team.
This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys same-day sick visits and urgent cases in a fast-paced, well-supported environment—without overnight emergency shifts.
At Seneca Animal Hospital, we believe in promoting responsible pet ownership through preventative healthcare practices and client education, while setting a high standard for medical excellence within our community.
The Impact You’ll Have In this role, you will:
Provide high-quality medical care for same-day sick and urgent cases during extended afternoon and evening hours.
Manage a diverse caseload including acute illness, minor trauma, and urgent medical concerns.
Collaborate closely with experienced technicians and fellow veterinarians.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients during high-emotion situations.
Practice advanced medicine with strong diagnostics, referral relationships, and clinical autonomy.
Success in this role means patients receive timely, thoughtful care, clients feel informed and reassured, and you finish your shifts feeling supported and effective.
Who Thrives in This Role This position is well-suited for veterinarians who:
Enjoy urgent care and non-routine case work
Are calm, confident decision-makers in dynamic environments
Value teamwork, strong technician support, and mutual respect
Care deeply about both high-quality medicine and client relationships
Want clinical challenge without overnight emergency responsibilities
Previous experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or general practice is helpful, but mindset and judgement matter most.
Our Team & Practice
3 full-time and 2 part-time DVMs
4 LVTs and an exceptional support staff
Modern diagnostics, surgical capabilities, and urgent-care infrastructure
Strong referral relationships with specialty and emergency centers throughout the Upstate, including mobile specialist.
A collegial, supportive culture focused on excellence and continuous improvement
Qualifications
DVM or equivalent degree
Licensed or eligible for licensure in South Carolina
Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
Team-oriented, positive, and collaborative approach to medicine
We hire for capability, judgement, and value alignment – not just credentials.
Compensation
Competitive compensation (Base + Production)
Signing Bonus
Simple IRA with company matching
Continuing Education allowance
Paid licensures and professional dues
Health insurance stipend
Personal pet benefits
Why This Role Is Different This is not an assembly-line urgent care position. It is an opportunity to practice thoughtful, high-quality medicine in a setting that respects clinicians, values collaboration, and prioritizes sustainability.
