Role: Family Specialist The Family Specialist is responsible for providing Center orientation to new families and providing direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consents. The position will assist in the implementation and facilitation of family support programming and center‑driven programming and events.
Essential Functions
Assist in development and implementation of family support programming
Provide center orientation to new families
Assist families with applications or referral consents
Refer and link families to appropriate programs and community resources as needed
Coordinate and facilitate center‑driven programming and events
Support partner agencies with program registration and follow‑up
Support the efforts of all CBFRC staff
Document services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, and input data into a database system
Ensure the center is a safe, warm, welcoming environment for all
Maintain cooperative working relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, families, partners, and the community
Work to support center and collaborative outcomes
Follow all CBFRC policies and procedures
Perform targeted outreach as needed
Perform daily operating procedures
Other duties as assigned
Other Responsibilities
Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs of our service population
Understand the Protective Factors framework
Practice Family Support Principles
Be cross‑trained to perform daily operating procedures
Participate in center events and work to support contractual outcomes
Obtain training in the center data system: Attendance and Needs Tracking System and maintain member confidentiality
Conduct bilingual tasks if required
Attend mandatory training and perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
High level of energy and positive attitude; adaptable to irregular hours
Work flexible hours, including some evenings and Saturdays
Education High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
Experience Minimum of two years of experience serving families.
Skills Knowledge of community resources and ability to facilitate strength‑based family programming and center‑driven events.
Principal Accountabilities
Report to Center Manager
Team player with co‑workers and administrators
Accurate, complete, and timely submission of required documents and reports
Liaison to community providers
Adherence to agency policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality of all client information
