Eckert & Ziegler Analytics, Inc. (EZA) , a subsidiary of Eckert & Ziegler AG, is one of the world's largest manufacturers of isotope technology for medical, scientific, and industrial use. Based in Atlanta, EZA provides nuclear power, government, university and commercial laboratories with reference and calibration standards, sources, and proficiency testing samples to support quality measurements traceable to national standards.

The Job Eckert & Ziegler Analytics seeks a Radiochemist I or II who will manufacture radioactive calibration standards, check sources and proficiency testing samples. Maintains laboratory equipment, supplies and environment. Supports maintenance of radionuclide and chemical inventories.

Duties

Manufactures calibrationstandards, checksourcesand PE samples.

Manufactures sources in support of the company’s Traceability program.

Maintains laboratoryequipment and supplies.

Performs QC related measurements and maintains some counting equipment.

Supports maintenance of radioisotope and chemical inventories.

Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment.

Performs inspection of incoming material.

Supports compliance to the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17043 and the company Quality Manual.

Supports the Health Physics department with radioactive waste management, contamination surveys, dose surveys and decontamination of minor spills.

Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Production Manager.

Requirements

Minimum education (or substitute experience) required:

4-year degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.

Minimum experience required:

One-year of general wet laboratory experience. (Basics of nuclear counting methodology and nuclear physics experience a plus.)

Abilities and skills required:

Ability to read and understand professional documents.

Basic laboratory skills and ability to work in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices.

Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to exercise caution when working with hazardous chemicals and open radioactive material.

Knowledgeof mathematicalconceptssuchasalgebra, geometry, probability,andstatistical inference.

Ability tosolvepractical problemsand deal with a varietyofconcrete variablesinsituations whereonly limited standardization exists.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit.

Ability to work with power tools and machinery a plus.
