Responsibilities

Field verification of OSP system design for new markets, new developments, and expansion of FTTH/MDU/SMB fiber infrastructure.

Performs field visits to verify planned routes and locations to gather route and right-of- away data.

Performs preliminary underground and aerial plant engineering, including make ready and pole loading assessments.

Identifies jurisdiction for relative permits related to ROW, Railroad, and DOTs.

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of department.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate STEM degree or equivalent experience preferred.

A minimum of 2 years of experience in Outside Plant Engineering Design, Construction management, or OSP Field Inspector.

Reliable transportation to complete field work.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing, as well as give effective presentations to Supervisors and Managers. Additionally, able to constructively escalates problems and issues.

Ability to work independently as well as with a team of senior-level engineers and supervisors to develop solutions to complete assigned tasks.

Advanced knowledge of outside plant engineering and field design methods.

Practical understanding of permit process for city/county/DOT/Railroad permits.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Visio, Excel, and Word is required.

Basic knowledge of Electrical Utility architecture and Natural Gas distribution.

Intermediate knowledge of OSP design software and/or GIS systems preferred.
