The stress engineer analyzes the structural integrity of aircraft components to ensure they can withstand operational loads and environmental conditions. They use simulation tools and calculations to assess strength, fatigue, and durability. The role is critical in ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with aviation standards.

Responsibilities

Participate in the definition of concepts for primary and secondary structural elements of aircraft

Analyze primary and secondary structural elements of aircraft using various methods

Review design models to ensure adequacy of design through hand calculations and good engineering judgment.

Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and validate performance under operational loads.

Ensure analyses are performed in a manner consistent with basic analysis assumptions

Contribute to the definition of certification testing requirements.

Assist in preparing technical reports, stress justifications and certification documents for regulatory approval

Support the development of calculation methodologies.

Collaborate with other technical disciplines related to materials and primary and secondary structural elements of aircraft.

Provide early input to Design regarding Stress requirements.

Perform fatigue and damage tolerance (F&DT) analysis (if required by the role)

Share technical knowledge with team members.

Act as a stress analysis reference point for weight team projects (if required)

Understand AS 9100 standard requirements related to the responsibilities of this position.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience in the aerospace or manufacturing sector is an asset.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Knowledge of CATIA V5 design and modeling software.

Familiarity with NASTRAN, PATRAN, FEMAP, and HYPERMESH software

Possibility of working day, evening, or weekend shifts.

Possibility to be located directly on the customer site (if applicable)
