MAJOR FUNCTION
Directs staff and over-sees operations relative to their specific assignment and duties. Performs routine medical laboratory testing procedures using a variety of laboratory instrumentation. Responsible for the performing and resulting of specimens received from patients who may range in age from neonate, pediatric, adults to geriatric. Maintains proper quality control procedures, instrumentation against established standards, operate the laboratory information system. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Perform any other duties necessary to run an efficient and effective laboratory. QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related field OR For HEW/HHS - High school graduate or equivalent with 50-week military training as Medical Lab Specialist OR Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory or Clinical Laboratory training program. 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred Certification
ASCP MLT or equivalent, level eligible at date of hire Certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire date Knowledge & Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Physical & Environmental Requirements
