Overview This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic team as a Director within the U.S. Loan Syndications team. You will be responsible for providing expertise in origination, structuring and distribution of underwritten and arranged syndicated loans for Scotiabank’s corporate and project finance clients.
What You’ll Do
Identify and execute Lead Arranger mandates for current and prospective clients by collaborating with colleagues from Investment Banking and Corporate Banking coverage teams.
Lead the team’s origination efforts through the preparation of customized pitchbooks, client proposals and general-purpose marketing material.
Develop optimal financing structure tailored to specific client needs while considering both internal and broader market appetite and conditions.
Lead deal team on Left Lead and underwritten mandates ensuring seamless execution from origination to closing.
Oversee the preparation of Confidential Information Memoranda, Lender Presentations and other marketing materials for Lead Arranger transactions.
Manage all aspects of live deal syndications from investor outreach to assisting with participant lender due diligence items and credit questions.
Contribute to the Bank’s credit approval process through the preparation of underwriting memoranda that evaluates structure, pricing and other terms as well as market receptivity for new transactions.
Monitor syndicated loan market trends and maintain ongoing contact with bank and institutional investor market participants.
Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, issuers and loan investors.
Mentor and train junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in finance, accounting, or related field. MBA/CPA/CFA or other industry designation is a plus.
8 - 10 years of experience in Investment Banking, Loan Syndications or Capital Markets-related field.
Accounting knowledge and experience in credit analysis required.
Proven ability to successfully win mandates and serve client relationships.
Deal execution skills, including the ability to manage multiple live transactions and initiatives at once.
Demonstrated experience negotiating credit documentation.
Project finance experience is a plus.
Established network across other loan syndication desks and knowledge of active syndicated loan market participants.
Considerable initiative, creativity, attention to detail and good judgement are necessary.
Self-starter and ability to operate in a high energy environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
