Senior Electrical Engineer - Indianapolis, IN
A multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm specializing in sustainable, high-performance building design is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical system design for healthcare, higher education, government, federal, and mixed-use facilities. This role supports projects from concept through construction and works collaboratively across disciplines to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead design of electrical systems including
power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage infrastructure
Develop
load calculations, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and risers
Perform
voltage drop, fault current, and load calculations
using Design Master Electrical or SKM PowerTools
Coordinate utility service requirements, transformer sizing, and metering
Prepare
Basis of Design documents, system narratives, and specifications
Collaborate with architectural, mechanical, structural, plumbing, and low-voltage teams
Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination
Support project managers with scope, schedules, and technical input
Perform QA/QC reviews and provide construction administration support
Mentor junior electrical engineering staff
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Electrical Engineering
(Master’s preferred)
8+ years
of electrical engineering experience in a consulting or A/E environment
Professional Engineer (PE)
license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years
Experience with
healthcare, higher education, government, or institutional projects
is ideal
Proficiency in
Revit
with experience using
Design Master Electrical
(preferred) or
SKM PowerTools
Strong knowledge of
NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 72 , and applicable building codes
Experience designing normal and emergency power, lighting systems, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems
Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
