The Computer Support Technician supports computer hardware and software, printers, barcode scanning and labeling equipment, IP phone system and associated equipment, networking devices and other related peripherals and software used throughout the business. The position is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting key equipment and related systems used in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment, requiring a sense of urgency, attention to detail and a customer service focus.
Duties and responsibilities
Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cabling, operating systems, and appropriate software and peripherals
Support installation and configuration of manufacturing floor IT equipment including integrations with manufacturing equipment
Install and perform repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment, following documented design or installation specifications.
Setup user accounts and properly configure security in various systems such as Active Directory, Fenevision ,Gmail and others
Confer with users to provide technical assistance and support and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems. Answer users' inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
Consult with and resolve major hardware or software problems or defective products with vendors when necessary. Return equipment to vendors for service or replacement.
Diagnose and correct problems with IT equipment and software that interfaces with manufacturing equipment, working with Maintenance, Vendors and others as required
Install and maintain network infrastructure including cabling
Develop documentation and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
Maintain record of daily activities, problems and remedial action taken
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience maintaining various IT hardware including PC’s, Thin Clients, Printers, Bar Code Scanners and Label Printers preferably in a manufacturing environment
Ability to support multiple hardware platforms, operating systems, software packages, peripherals and LAN infrastructure including PC’s, Printers, Phones, Scanners, Barcode Printers etc.
Ability to quickly learn software to machine integration details and HMI operation
Experience working in Active Directory to add and maintain user accounts and groups, control access to IT resources
Knowledge of basics required to manage virtual PC’s using VMware Vsphere client
Ability to use initiative and independent judgment to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions and project consequences of proposed actions
Ability to recommend the best options and implement approved solution in support of goals
Ability to work independently without direct supervision
Ability to define and resolve problems in a timely manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong planning and organizational abilities are essential
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems or a related field or technical degree with certifications and experience equivalent to a bachelors

Push or pull with up to 45 lbs. of force on an occasional basis when moving equipment
This job requires the use of close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Perform work using a ladder or lift on an occasional basis
Stoop, kneel or squat on a regular basis when installing or servicing equipment
Long periods of sitting
Extensive time spent viewing computer monitor(s)
Significant time spent using computer keyboard and mouse to perform job responsibilities
