About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Application and Platform Engineer to lead the development of advanced IoT software platforms for smart home and assisted living environments . This is a high-impact role ideal for someone with a PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in full-stack and embedded IoT systems.

You will drive architecture and development across cloud, edge, and mobile platforms—helping bring to life intelligent systems that promote independence, comfort, and safety in the home. This includes platform-level integration, data-driven features, and user-facing applications for both residents and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of scalable IoT platforms for smart home and assisted living applications.
• Develop software that integrates edge devices, mobile apps, and cloud services with real-time performance and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with firmware, hardware, and product design teams to create cohesive systems.
• Implement advanced features such as predictive analytics, remote diagnostics, user behavior tracking, or machine learning-enhanced personalization.
• Own the full software lifecycle: from requirements and architecture through deployment and support.
• Drive decisions on technology stacks, security best practices, DevOps processes, and CI/CD strategies.
• Stay current on trends in IoT, connected devices, voice control, accessibility, and aging-in-place technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. preferred (or M.S. with exceptional experience) in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience building scalable platforms for IoT or connected devices.
• Deep proficiency with:
• App Development: React Native, Flutter, or similar cross-platform frameworks.
• IoT Protocols: MQTT, BLE, Wifi, 4G, 5G Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread.
• Cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP for IoT backends and services.
• Strong background in data privacy, OTA update systems, and secure remote management.
• Proven experience in system integration, data pipelines, and working with real-time or low-latency systems.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with AI/ML applications in IoT (anomaly detection, computer vision, personalization).
• Experience with smart assistants (Alexa, Google Home) or voice interaction systems.
• Understanding of user needs in eldercare, accessibility, or healthcare environments.
• Experience with containerization, edge computing, or real-time analytics is a plus.
