Summary of Position The Staff Nurse, RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to a designated group of patients. The nurse will establish goals and priorities of nursing care, develop a written plan of nursing care that includes patient education and discharge planning, and document care given with patient progress. The RN will work collaboratively with the medical staff in matters of patient care.
Department Description The 12‑bed unit provides emergent and urgent care for acute and chronic conditions at varying acuity levels. The pediatric emergency department is a regional Level 1 pediatric trauma center treating more than 20,000 patients annually.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
AHA BLS before the end of orientation period.
Note: Penn State Hershey requires all registered nurses hired after July 1, 2015 to enroll in a baccalaureate nursing degree program within one year of hire and complete the degree within four years of hire.
