EDUCATIONAL REGIONAL ACADEMIC CONSULTANT - 01062026-73789
State of Tennessee – Department of Education – Centers of Regional Excellence (CORE) – McMinn County. Location: Athens, TN. This full‑time role provides academic and instructional consultation to local education agencies in the Southeast region.
Opening Information Opening Date/Time: 01/06/2026 12:00 AM Central Time. Closing Date/Time: 01/19/2026 11:59 PM Central Time. Salary (Monthly): $5,647.00 – $7,326.00 (Annual: $67,764.00 – $87,912.00).
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of full‑time, pre‑K–12 teaching experience or higher education experience related to pre‑K–12 instruction.
Special Qualifications: Valid driver’s license.
Overview Under general supervision, provides direct and indirect support to districts through academic and instructional consultation and advice to improve student achievement outcomes, and performs related work as required.
Responsibilities
Serve as subject matter expert on state standards and priority academic initiatives for local education agencies.
Advises LEAs on instructional resources and best practices, and shares findings statewide.
Analyze LEA student achievement data and other instructional information to identify progress toward accountability goals.
Match districts and schools with peers for collaborative learning and improvement.
Support LEAs in change management, provide concrete next steps and recommendations for academic focus.
Provide accurate information, resources, training, and support in specific content areas to LEAs.
Guide core coaches to create innovative networks of support for teachers and facilitate understanding of department initiatives.
Location Notes This position will primarily travel to districts within the Southeast region, including Athens City, Bradley County, Cleveland City, Dayton City, Etowah City, Grundy County, Hamilton County, Marion County, McMinn County, Meigs County, Polk County, Rhea County, Richard City, Sequatchie County.
Office Location Tennessee Department of Education Andrew Johnson Tower, 710 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243.
