Aerospace Engineer, Senior
at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. This position supports the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center’s (AFOTEC) ICBM Operational Test & Evaluation Team and the LGM-35A Sentinel test program.
Responsibilities
Support national security
by contributing to the development and evaluation of ICBM systems for the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC).
Conduct technical analysis and assessment
of ICBM system performance, including propulsion systems, guidance and navigation, flight dynamics, and re-entry vehicle characteristics.
Analyze missile system designs
including booster configurations, guidance algorithms, and control systems; participate in critical test events such as static fire testing and flight tests; assess technical findings and communicate potential impacts to operational test objectives.
Evaluate operational effectiveness and suitability
of current and future ICBM capabilities through requirements analysis, infrastructure assessment, gap analysis, trade studies, and identify solutions to enhance test capabilities.
Design and develop comprehensive test plans
for ICBM systems, including test objectives, experimental design, instrumentation requirements, data acquisition strategies, and success criteria in accordance with DOT&E and AFOTEC standards.
Perform quantitative analysis
of test data from ICBM system evaluations, applying statistical methods and engineering principles to assess system performance against established measures of effectiveness (MOE) and measures of suitability (MOS).
Author technical documentation
including test reports, technical memoranda, and briefing materials; present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, government stakeholders, and technical review boards.
Maintain technical currency
in aerospace engineering disciplines relevant to strategic missile systems, including advances in propulsion, guidance and control, materials science, and test methodologies.

Qualifications Required:
Master's degree
in Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field
with 3+ years of relevant experience , OR
Bachelor's degree
with 5+ years of relevant experience
Minimum 2+ years of specialized experience
in one or more of the following technical areas:
Atmospheric re-entry physics and hypersonic aerodynamics
Flight control system design, analysis, or validation
Inertial navigation systems and guidance algorithms
Propulsion system analysis and performance evaluation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
with proficiency in technical computing environments and data analysis tools
Excellent communication skills
with demonstrated ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences including senior military leadership and civilian stakeholders
Security Clearance Required:
Candidates must have a current TOP SECRET clearance, and will be required to obtain other special security accesses and SCI to perform the work. Must have a current background investigation within the last six years from actual hire date. Candidates with a SECRET clearance will be considered, but preference will be given to those with active TOP SECRET clearances
Preferred:
Experience with strategic missile systems
or space launch vehicles
Knowledge of Test & Evaluation (T&E) processes
including test planning, data analysis, statistical methods, and technical reporting in accordance with DOD standards
Knowledge of DOD acquisition processes
and T&E policy (DOD 5000 series, DoDI 5000.89)
Demonstrated experience
with modeling and simulation (M&S) tools for aerospace applications (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, STK, MISSILE DATCOM, or similar)
Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $80,100.00/Yr. - USD $133,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
