Field Service Technician – Office Equipment

As a Service Technician, you are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining multifunction copiers and printers in customer environments. This role is ideal for a technician with foundational field experience who is comfortable working independently on core mechanical and technical issues, while continuing to build networking and connectivity skills with support from senior technicians and the Service Manager. The goal of this position is to minimize customer downtime and deliver a consistently positive service experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair multifunction copiers and printers in a timely, professional manner
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
Install and configure MFP equipment, including print and scan connectivity to customer networks
Provide on-site customer support, clearly communicating findings and solutions in a customer-friendly manner
Escalate complex technical issues to senior technicians or the Service Manager when appropriate
Accurately document service calls, parts usage, labor, and resolutions in the service management system
Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines
Manage assigned parts inventory and report replenishment needs
Identify recurring equipment or customer issues and provide feedback to improve service efficiency
Work collaboratively with dispatch, sales, and fellow technicians to deliver an excellent customer experience
Training & Development
Participate in manufacturer and internal training programs for new models, software, and service procedures
Continue developing networking and connectivity skills related to print and scan environments
Support and mentor junior technicians as experience grows
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, timely service documentation and work orders
Manage daily schedule and territory efficiently to meet service response expectations
Assist with territory coverage and route alignment as directed by management
Required Qualifications
Technical certification or manufacturer training on copier/MFP product lines
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Reliable transportation (company vehicle may be provided)
Working knowledge of copier/printer mechanical systems
Basic understanding of network printing and scanning concepts
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Ricoh, Canon, HP or similar office equipment brands
Familiarity with e-Automate or comparable service management software
General knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments and print drivers
Prior experience as a field service technician in the office equipment industry
