Toolroom Machinist Position Summary The Toolroom Machinist will be responsible for working in a precision tooling environment setting up and operating 3- and 5-axis mills to manufacture multiple stamping die, plastic injection, and fixture components.
Shifts Available
1st shift 600am-200pm Mon‑Fri
Responsibilities
Manufacture fixturing and tooling from engineering drawings with minimal assistance
Build reliable tooling components on time
Perform maintenance on Toolroom equipment
Ensure revision levels of paperwork and tooling components are current
Troubleshoot using a numbers‑based scientific approach, and determine best solutions
Document maintenance and build activities in required databases
Work closely with others to ensure the best practices are used during the build of all tooling components
Set up and operate 3- and 5‑axis mills to produce high‑quality precise tooling components and other pieces parts
Setup and operate toolroom measurement equipment
Adhere to all safety policies; includes wearing personal protective equipment when required
Accurately record and report hours worked
Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
Participate in required company meetings
Maintain an organized work area (5S)
Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
Complete all other work duties as assigned
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Technical Degree or equivalent experience
7‑10 years of experience operating CNC mills, including experience with both 2‑axis and 5‑axis machines
Capable of performing work activities driven from work orders, project plans, and maintenance procedures, and training documents
Strong interpersonal skills
Good troubleshooting skills
Critical thinking and writing 10 years of machining precision components
Good ability to conceptualize complex geometry and assemblies
Good ability to troubleshoot the machining process
Basic theory of cutting tools and machining process
Strong math skills, including trigonometry
Advanced theory of cutting tools and machining practices required to manufacture tooling components
Advanced ability to troubleshoot by reading surface finish
Ability to read, comprehend, follow and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training documents
Mechanical Aptitude
Dexterity and hand and eye coordination
Ability to use a microscope
Ability to read and comprehend Drawings and GD&T
Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
