Qualifications
At least 2 years of radio and/or window dispatch experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Transit environment experience preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred).
Ability to effectively decipher maps.
Ability to handle stress, including emergency situations.
Strong judgment in making decisions in both emergency and routine situations.
Proficiency with email, internet, and the Microsoft Office Applications Suite.
Excellent organization and multi‑tasking skills.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
Good judgement, reasoning, and decision‑making abilities.
Responsibilities
Assign work, vehicles, and onboard equipment to operators and maintain check‑out logs.
Assign operators to cover absences and increased service volumes to minimize service disruptions.
Maintain accurate attendance logs.
Communicate with operators regarding customer information, cancellations, and directional assistance.
Monitor operators and trip status, making adjustments and reassignments as needed to ensure on‑time performance.
Monitor the Transit Radio System (TRS) for messages from bus and sedan operators.
Monitor the AVL screen to identify and prevent late running routes and optimize standby or extra resources.
Assist operators in emergencies or vehicle malfunctions, coordinating with operations, safety, and maintenance staff.
Reschedule trips as required in the event of vehicle malfunctions, traffic, or emergencies.
Reconcile trip manifests with operators.
Assist passengers with service usage and trip status inquiries.
Document daily events related to service accurately and appropriately.
Collect lost and found items, catalog them, and attempt to contact passengers where possible.
Maintain a safe work area and prioritize safety to reduce injury risk.
Perform radio checks on all vehicles leaving the yard.
Establish and maintain headways for all online buses.
Maintain the “exceptions” and “incidents” log.
Assist drivers with informational material as needed.
Report to supervisors and duty managers about drivers failing to meet online duties.
Provide clients with location and ETA information promptly.
Perform various administrative duties, including answering calls, courtesy calls, and filing.
Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
