This position focuses on managing IT spend, budgeting, and financial tracking rather than traditional accounting functions. The ideal candidate has a finance or accounting background, understands how IT departments operate, and can confidently partner with IT leaders, project managers, and technical teams to track costs, forecast spend, and support informed decision-making. This is a contract role with potential to convert to full time.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and track IT spend across multiple initiatives, including Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) treated as individual IT projects
Ensure alignment of spend to approved business cases, including CAPEX vs. OPEX determinations
Track accruals, forecasts, and actuals, tying costs to the correct cost centers
Partner closely with IT project managers and IT leadership to coordinate timelines, budgets, and financial updates
Maintain and enhance IT spend reporting and dashboards using Excel and Power BI
Develop and support automated cost analytics to improve visibility and reduce manual effort
Perform variance analysis and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field
3+ years of experience in IT financial analysis, cost analysis, or an IT-adjacent finance role
Strong understanding of: Budgeting and forecasting, CAPEX and OPEX, Cost tracking and financial controls
Advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience
Experience supporting IT departments or IT projects (infrastructure, security, applications, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with a high level of organization
Comfortable coordinating across multiple stakeholders
Strong communicator who can translate financial data into clear insights
Nice to Have
Experience with IT spend reporting tools
