Hospital Maintenance Engineer
– FirstHealth of the Carolinas
Overview Maintain and troubleshoot all critical building systems throughout the hospital and outbuildings. Respond to emergencies and support daily operations while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent training or 1‑5 years of general building maintenance experience.
Strong knowledge or experience with boilers, chillers, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and building automation.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license with good driving history.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications for installation and maintenance of equipment.
Verbal communication skills for interacting with hospital staff and workers.
Flexibility to perform a variety of duties and adhere to established standards.
Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; ability to climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch as required.
Near‑visual acuity for reading blueprints and specifications.
Willingness to work any hour of the day in response to emergencies.
Working Conditions
Work covers all areas of the hospital and outbuildings.
Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals/materials, communicable diseases, or blood/body fluids.
Weekend, holiday, or rotating shifts may be required.
Work may be performed during inclement weather.
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch to make repairs or installations.
