PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Daikin Europe NV (DENV) is a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Limited, a Japanese company and the world's largest developer, producer and supplier of HVAC‑R solutions, including heating pumps and cooling technology.
DEPARTMENT Lies in the EMEA Development Centre (EDC). We develop air‑conditioning, heating, refrigeration and ventilation products as well as controls and IOT solutions across a network of European and non‑European factories. The products are sold through Daikin distributors and affiliates in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
ROLE As a Refrigerant Control Development Engineer within the EDC, you will contribute to the development of heat pumps, refrigeration systems and commercial air‑conditioning products. Your focus will be on defining system specifications, selecting key refrigerant components, developing unit control strategies and validating performance through testing to ensure reliable and efficient products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Define the thermodynamic design and product specifications to reach required targets while complying with regulations and internal quality standards.
Learn control logic and propose improvements or new logic based on reliability test result analysis.
Determine which tests and evaluations the products must undergo and analyse the test results.
Analyse the system performance and develop proposals to improve product efficiency, drawing on strong thermodynamic knowledge.
Determine refrigerant components, taking reliability, cost and unit constraints into account.
Plan your own work autonomously while considering the global planning within and outside the EDC.
Share interim results with the team and management and set up action plans to remove bottlenecks.
Play a central role in the organization, reflecting on the impact of your actions on other departments such as Sales, Procurement, Quality and Production.
PROFILE
Master of Science in Engineering with a focus on thermodynamics or control engineering.
Combines technical expertise with initiative and a strong desire to contribute to product development.
Works well in a team, enjoys solving complex challenges, and is motivated by technical requirements and customer‑specific needs.
Has a genuine interest in HVACR technologies and is committed to sustainability goals, including the Green Deal.
Organised, proactive, and capable of managing time effectively, setting priorities and delivering on deadlines.
Communicates clearly in English, both spoken and written, in a professional and international context.
Open to both recent graduates and candidates with experience.
Driver’s licence recommended, as collaboration between Ghent and Ostend teams may require travel.
