Subframe Engineer
Location: Michigan
Pay Range: $42-$52 per hour (W2)
Years of Experience: 2 years with Bachelors / 0 experience with advanced degree
As a subframe engineer, you will lead the design of components that act as a mount structure for the suspension and it reacts to vehicle travel on corners, on bumps, acceleration and braking. Critical features include high strength, torsional and flexural stiffness, fatigue, and robust performance for the life of world leading electric vehicles. Furthermore, the subframe is an important contributor to crash energy management in frontal impact for automotive vehicles. You will engage with attribute groups and other system owners to guide premier subframe structure from concept to production.
Responsibilities
Ensure that component designs satisfy requirements to deliver the desired vehicle attributes
Design with excellence at system and component level, with great attention to every detail.
Work closely with both internal teams and externals suppliers, using creativity and teamwork to integrate multiple systems in the most efficient way possible
Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs
Manage multiple complex projects in a demanding environment
Qualifications
Automotive industry experience, mostly focused on stamped steel weldments, subframes and low pressure die castings
Experience personally and directly designing components from concept to production
Design release engineering experience, including engineering change management and project management experience
Hands‑on practical experience in prototype assembly
Experience in technology, system, and supplier selection
Proven 3D CAD, project leadership
Determine required tolerances using GD&T
