We are seeking a Production Controller to join our manufacturing operations team in Rome, New York. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling production and material flow to ensure customer demand is met while optimizing inventory, capacity, and operational performance. The Production Controller works closely with cross‑functional partners across Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Procurement to develop executable plans, manage SAP MRP activities, and proactively address risks to manufacturing continuity.

This position plays a critical role in enabling efficient production execution, supporting the SIOP process, and driving continuous improvement in planning accuracy, material availability, and inventory performance. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across multiple functions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

Planning & Scheduling: Develop, maintain, and monitor production schedules and material requirements plans (MRP) to support customer demand, operational readiness, and efficient resource utilization.

MRP Management: Oversee SAP MRP activities to ensure timely procurement of materials and components, preventing shortages and minimizing excess inventory.

Material Management: Maintain consistent material availability, manage inventory levels, and coordinate with Supply Chain and Operations to support uninterrupted manufacturing flow.

SIOP Collaboration: Support the SIOP cycle by partnering with Operations, Marketing, Sourcing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to develop an integrated and executable demand and supply plan.

Forecast & Demand Alignment: Review demand forecasts, reconcile them with capacity and material availability, and address potential imbalances proactively.

Inventory Control: Monitor and optimize inventory of raw materials and finished goods; manage obsolete or slow‑moving items and maintain adherence to inventory targets.

Performance Analysis: Track and analyze KPIs tied to production, materials, and inventory performance, implementing improvements where needed.

Cross‑Functional Communication: Coordinate with Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, and Engineering to ensure seamless execution of plans and timely issue resolution.

SAP Expertise: Utilize SAP to execute material planning, production order creation, inventory analysis, and ensure system data integrity.

Issue Resolution: Identify risks including shortages, bottlenecks, and disruptions; develop and implement recovery and mitigation plans with cross‑functional partners.

Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements to planning processes, material flow, and system accuracy to strengthen operational performance.

Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present planning, performance, and service‑level reports to support leadership decision‑making.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

Salary range: 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD
