About the Role Our client are seeking an experienced
Solar Estimator
to support the development, pricing, and proposal efforts for commercial and Industrial scale solar projects. This role is ideal for someone who has hands‑on experience working within an EPC and understands the full lifecycle of solar construction — from early conceptual design through final bid submission.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates
for C&I solar PV projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing, and indirect costs.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents
to determine scope, constructability, and cost impacts.
Collaborate with internal EPC teams
(engineering, procurement, construction, project management) to gather accurate data and validate assumptions.
Develop and maintain cost databases , unit pricing, and historical project benchmarks.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes , ensuring alignment with project requirements and timelines.
Perform site assessments
(virtual or in‑person) to identify installation constraints, risks, and cost drivers.
Support proposal development , including pricing sheets, bill of materials, and technical narratives.
Participate in value‑engineering discussions
to optimize system design and reduce project costs.
Assist in handoff to project execution teams , ensuring estimates are clearly communicated and documented.
Stay current on market pricing trends , solar technologies, and construction best practices.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience
estimating solar PV projects within an EPC or solar construction environment.
Strong understanding of
solar system components , racking, electrical infrastructure, and construction sequencing.
Proficiency with
estimating software , Excel, and project management tools.
Ability to
read and interpret engineering drawings , one‑lines, site plans, and specifications.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex scopes into accurate cost components.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical teams.
Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with
energy storage
cost estimating.
Knowledge of construction codes, permitting requirements.
Experience working with subcontractors and vendors in the solar industry.
