Summary Formulate and define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of the applications used by the health system. Define end‑user requirements and procedures prior to the implementation of their application areas. Identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements. Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify operations to be performed by equipment, computer programs as well as operations to be performed by personnel in using the system. May prepare time and cost estimates for completing projects. May direct and coordinate work of others to develop, test, install and modify programs.
Responsibilities
Act as primary support contact for the application’s end-users
Develop operational need to set the direction of the organization’s workflows
Work closely with different divisional/functional heads within the organization to determine their information needs and problems
Guide workflow design, building and testing the system and analyzing other technical issues
Lead small to medium projects requiring clinical systems involvement
Prepare general system flowcharts for present and proposed systems that portray the movement of work through the organizational elements
Confer with management and advise status and progress of studies being conducted
Maintain documentation of assigned projects and/or systems
Provide assistance and training to end‑user staff
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Education and Formal Training
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate’s degree in nursing, IT related or Healthcare related field required OR 4 years of IT related experience required
Nursing candidates – Current Registered Nurse license in North Carolina required
Candidates must take Epic exam and pass/qualify prior to being considered for this position
Obtain Epic certification in required applications within 3 months of training
Work Experience
2 years of information technology work experience in healthcare or relative operational experience required
1 year Epic experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Flexibility with respect to changing end‑users needs
Ability and willingness to see things in an open‑minded way, examining ideas from all angles
Communicate information clearly and concisely
Ability to use a computer effectively, type and take good notes
Good organizational and planning skills are required
Ability to manage and motivate people
Ability to resolve problems and conflicts effectively
Ability to think logically
Even temperament and be able to work well with people
Tactful, diplomatic, patient, and objective
Ability to work within strict time constraints and be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project is preferred
Physical Requirements
On‑call support is required for this position
Required flight travel to Verona, Wisconsin
Hearing and verbal ability to interact professionally with staff, managers and vendors
Visual acuity to deal with CRTs and printouts
Manual dexterity to use standard keyboards
