Job Description Plasma Donation Center Operations – Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – Reports to the Plasma Center Manager.
About the Role The Medical Support Specialist supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. This role works under guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician for medical issues and follows regulations of the plasma collection industry.
Responsibilities
Determine donor eligibility including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
Evaluate donor reactions and respond according to SOPs, including medical emergencies and donor transport to emergency care.
Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
Licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Fulfil state requirements for basic IV therapy.
Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Compensation and Benefits Location:
USA – MI – Holland
Hourly Wage Range:
$23.85 – $32.79
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
