Job Description Responsibilities:
Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle braking systems
Perform inspection, service, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of vehicle brakes
Respond to service failures as required
Utilize shop tools and test equipment such as wheel true machine, forklifts, table-lifts, hoists, cranes, power tools, specialized measuring tools, electronic test equipment, laptop computers and hand tools
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment
Record completed inspections and repairs using the Maintenance Management System and other software tools; complete written reports as required
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution with the ability to comprehend, communicate and respond to instructions, orders, signs, notices, inquiries, etc. in English
An Associate’s Degree or Accredited Secondary School Diploma and successful achievement of industry required licenses or certifications in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Automotive Maintenance or other Industrial Maintenance Technology program
OR
Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining and repairing electro‑mechanical systems and equipment preferably at a senior level. Heavy equipment mechanic or light rail Electrical Multiple Unit vehicle experience preferred
Ability to comply with all safety rules and instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment
Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to read and interpret operating and maintenance manuals, schematics, prints and instructions typically used in the position
Must be a strong mechanic with mid‑senior level experience.
Not accepting entry level candidates
Requirements:
Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination including a physical ability assessment related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the position
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a background check
Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and be willing to comply with the Drug and Alcohol Policy
