Senior Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented problem‑solver to join our modeling and simulation team.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles.
Guide and mentor a team of engineers in the development of representative flight models.
Document model performance against requirements.
Document algorithm design.
Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members.
Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations.
Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area.
Basic Qualifications
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET‑accredited university with 8+ years applicable experience (or M.S. with 6+ years).
Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models.
Experience with ballistic missiles, air‑launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles.
Experience in MATLAB/Simulink.
Experience in C++ or Python. Experience leading a team to meet customer requirements.
Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process.
Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of aerospace systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information.
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Candidate must meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with configuration management tools such as SVN and Git.
Experience integrating and testing GNC algorithms.
Experience in ITASE or AFSIM.
Experience leading Modeling and Simulation teams.
Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
