2nd Shift Controls Engineer / Technician

2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Salary: $90,000 – $100,000
We’re seeking an experienced
Controls Engineer/Technician
to support and maintain automated manufacturing operations in a fast‑paced production environment. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Troubleshoot and repair
PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, and control systems
Maintain and support
automation and electrical equipment
Perform
preventive and corrective maintenance
to reduce downtime
Support
equipment installations, startups, and upgrades
Read and interpret
electrical schematics and technical documentation
Partner closely with
maintenance, engineering, and production teams
What You Bring
High School diploma or equivalent (required)
Associate degree in
Electronics/Electrical Technology
or equivalent hands‑on experience
AIB Engineering Certificate
preferred
3–5 years
of plant maintenance or engineering experience, including supervisory exposure
Strong working knowledge of:
HVAC and Refrigeration systems
Electrical and electronic equipment repair
Welding and industrial equipment installation/startup
Experience troubleshooting
PLC/HMI-based automation systems
Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred
Ability to work
2nd Shift (2 PM – 10 PM)
reliably
Licenses & Physical Requirements
Required state, city, or county licenses (boiler, refrigeration, etc.) as applicable
May be required to maintain certification to operate heavy equipment, including forklifts
Ability to:
Distinguish color‑coded equipment and wiring
Hear and identify audible alarms
Visually assess normal vs. abnormal equipment conditions
Work in environments up to
100°F
Location Based in Central New Jersey with easy access from Metuchen, Woodbridge, Piscataway, South Plainfield, New Brunswick, and surrounding areas.
