If a smooth, predictable month-end close is your happy place, keep reading.

You’re the kind of accounting leader who takes real satisfaction in clean reconciliations, clear processes, and numbers that tie out the first time. You like working close to the owner, leading a small team, and building a calm, professional environment where people know what “done right” looks like.

If that sounds like you, Munie Greencare Professionals is looking for a Controller to lead our accounting function and be a key partner to our President.

ABOUT MUNIE GREENCARE PROFESSIONALS Munie Greencare Professionals has been improving environments since 1980, providing commercial, industrial, HOA, athletic, government, and military grounds maintenance and lawn care throughout the region. We are a family‑owned, values‑driven company based in Fairview Heights, IL.

Our core values guide how we work:

Mission Driven

Uncompromising Safety

Nurturing Culture

Integrity & Trust

The Controller role is central to living these values through accurate, timely financial information, strong controls, and steady support for our field operations.

THE ROLE: WHAT YOU’LL LEAD Reporting directly to the President/Owner, this is the top accounting role at Munie. You will:

Lead the Accounting function

Directly supervise Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Contract Administration.

Set priorities, assign work, and provide coaching so the team delivers accurate, timely, well‑controlled results.

Own the month‑end close and financial reporting

Run a disciplined monthly close process and prepare financial statements and internal reports.

Ensure key balance sheet accounts are reconciled, documented, and explainable.

Strengthen processes, controls, and use of systems

Standardize and document workflows across AP, billing/AR, job costing, and payroll.

Help optimize QuickBooks Online and ensure data from our job‑management systems (e.g., Aspire/RealGreen or similar) flows cleanly into the general ledger.

Connect operations, CRM, and the general ledger

Make sure contract terms, work performed, job costs, and invoices line up between the field, the CRM, and the financials.

Partner with Operations and Contract Administration so leaders have clear visibility into revenue, costs, and margins.

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash visibility

Coordinate the annual budget process with the President and Operations leaders.

Maintain straightforward, practical forecasts and cash views that support day‑to‑day decision‑making.

Partner with our external CPA and banking relationships

Serve as the primary accounting contact for our CPA firm on year‑end, tax support, and special projects.

Support banking relationships and provide the financial information lenders and partners need.

THE IDEAL YOU (WORK STYLE & FIT) We’re looking for someone who:

Gets genuine satisfaction from organized, on‑time, no‑surprises accounting.

Has a strong sense of ownership and urgency, but brings a calm, steady presence to the team.

Is comfortable serving as the President’s primary accounting partner and trusted leader of the accounting function.

Leads by example: willing to dig into the details when needed, while building a capable, cross‑trained team.

Communicates in clear, practical language and can explain financial information to non‑accountants.

Aligns with our values, especially Integrity & Trust and Exceed Expectations.

QUALIFICATIONS SNAPSHOT Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).

7+ years of progressive accounting experience.

At least 3 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or strong Accounting Manager role.

Experience in landscaping, field services, industrial services, construction, or other job‑cost/contract‑based businesses is strongly preferred.

CPA is a plus but not required.

Technical Skills

Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles.

Hands‑on ownership of month‑end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

Experience supervising AP, payroll accounting, and/or staff accountants.

Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (or similar mid‑market systems) and strong Excel skills.

Comfort working with operational/job‑management systems (Aspire, RealGreen, ServiceTitan, construction/field service CRMs, etc.) and tying them to the general ledger.

Other

High integrity and discretion with financial, payroll, and personnel information.

Willingness to complete applicable background checks and drug/alcohol screening, consistent with company policy and law.

WORK AUTHORIZATION Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and Munie Greencare Professionals will not sponsor or assume sponsorship of an employment‑based visa petition for this role.

WHY MUNIE?

Family‑owned and locally rooted, with a long track record and strong reputation in the region.

Direct relationship with the President/Owner — your work is seen, valued, and used.

A role where you can shape and refine the accounting function, not just maintain it.

A culture that is mission driven, safety‑focused, people‑centered, and built on trust.
