Org Unit: Facilities Management_Campus Operation

Work Days: Weekdays and some weekends

Weekly Hours: 37.5

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $38.56 - $38.56 (NYC Offices)

Position Summary Under direct supervision, provides maintenance and repair services on infrastructure and architectural systems.

Job Responsibilities

Completes and submits a variety of service requests and preventative maintenance tasks indicating work performed and time and material spent.

Assists with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair services on heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC+R) systems.

Provides assistance in the maintenance of plumbing systems. Assists in the operation of various types of power drain cleaning machines.

Performs routine carpentry repair and installation work.

Monitors and operates building automation systems.

Performs general maintenance of machine rooms including replacing lighting, removing debris and general cleaning.

Unloads and distributes materials and equipment received to stock and work areas.

Performs routine daily inspections of the utility systems in assigned areas and records operational data. Interprets operational data and makes adjustments that improve performance/efficiency and/or resolve operational problems.

Provides stakeholders with status updates, issues, key activities and any changes to the scope of the overall project.

Education

High School Diploma

Completion of technical school training program in one of the maintenance trades or substantial comparable experience.

Experience Minimum 2-5 years of experience in general maintenance within a large institution or commercial facility with complex infrastructure systems.

If role requires use of WCM vehicle for business use, must have a valid New York State driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work on off-shifts as required to accommodate ongoing operations and/or emergencies.

Ability to be available for 24‑hour emergency call‑ins.

Licenses and Certifications

Maintain FDNY certifications necessary for the operation of utility systems. Required FDNY Certificates of Fitness for probationary period: A35, C42, F60, G46, G60, G71, P98, P99, S12, S13.

EPA Universal Refrigeration Technician Certification.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands Position requires working in a non‑office environment with noise, dust, heat, fumes and other present elements. Periodic work in animal research areas, machine rooms, crawl spaces, odor‑laden maintenance product areas, leaks, dust, dark areas, dampness, restricted access, and noise. Frequent use of ladders indoors and outdoors. Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds and push/pull objects up to 100 pounds. Utilization of hand tools, power tools, large wrenches, operation of small to large valves; visual and auditory monitoring of operating equipment; ability to walk, stand, climb ladders/scaffolds, bend, reach, lift and carry.
