About the Role Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer to support advanced defense programs at our Fort Wayne, Indiana site. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on embedded Linux software development, C++ programming, and CI/CD pipeline automation supporting mission‑critical aerospace and defense systems. The engineer will work across embedded platforms, software architecture layers, and DevSecOps infrastructure.
What You Will Do
Design, develop, test, and maintain C++ software for:
Embedded Linux and real‑time environments
Middleware and system architecture layers
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git‑based workflows and YAML‑based automation
Support automated builds, static code analysis, and secure software delivery
Work within containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes
Debug and troubleshoot:
Your own software
Shared codebases across multiple engineering teams
Participate in:
Code reviews
Continuous integration improvements
DevSecOps and secure coding initiatives
Contribute to software architecture discussions and system‑level integration efforts
Document designs, testing, pipeline configuration, and troubleshooting procedures
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
Design, develop, test, and maintain C++ software for Embedded Linux and real‑time environments
Experience with maintaining CI/CD pipelines
Experience with version control tools such as Git
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Salary and Benefits The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function, and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement.
