Education

High School Graduate or equivalent

Experience / Qualifications

Prefer knowledge of medical terminology.

Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting.

Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner.

Demonstrated patient‑centered and customer‑focused communication skills.

Frequent lifting/carrying of 25 pounds or more, with occasional work above shoulder level.

Position Summary The Surgical Core Tech is responsible for performing delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient. Under the supervision of the Core Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Manager and OR Director, the Surgical Core Technician delivers medical/surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

Functions in support of the Operating Room and Sterile Processing teams to ensure that the operating room environment is safe.

Works as a liaison between Sterile Processing, Supply Chain, and the Operating rooms.

Performs case cart assembly as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, be detail oriented, alert, and self‑motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40 lbs, carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Threshold Requirements

Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in‑service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation.

TB/PPD Surveillance Program.

Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
