About the Position Cybersecurity Team Lead – Director of Policy and Compliance The Cybersecurity Team Lead will oversee the agency’s policy and compliance team and ensure alignment with state and federal cybersecurity requirements, industry frameworks, and internal standards. This role manages the agency’s enterprise security policy, third‑party risk reviews, internal risk assessments, audits, and ongoing compliance efforts. The Team Lead serves as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity policy, guiding both technical and non‑technical staff to strengthen and maintain the agency’s overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

Own and manage the agency’s enterprise security policy, ensuring it is current and aligned with industry standards and best practices and state policies.

Lead the policy and compliance team, providing guidance, mentoring, and day‑to‑day direction.

Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures across the agency.

Oversee vendor and third‑party risk assessments to evaluate security practices and contract compliance.

Oversee the vulnerability management process, ensuring scans are performed, findings are reported to system owners, and remediation is tracked and verified.

Perform risk analyses to identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential threats to agency systems.

Coordinate with internal and external auditors, manage responses, and track remediation efforts.

Conduct compliance checks to ensure agency adherence to applicable state, federal, and industry regulations (such as NIST, CIS, IRS 1075).

Prepare and deliver regular reports on compliance posture, risk findings, and audit results to executive leadership.

Stay current on emerging regulations, frameworks, and cybersecurity best practices to ensure agency readiness.

Promote a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization.

Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring business continuity and alignment with organizational risk management and regulatory requirements. Coordinate testing, documentation, and updates to DR procedures to mitigate potential operational disruptions.

Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of IT experience with emphasis in security and compliance.
