To provide support on the Sungard HTE application software to all City users. Also involves training system users, resolving software problems, generating reports and setting up security profiles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job‑related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Designs and documents procedures in a clear and concise manner.
Is responsible for new software enhancements functionality and implementation.
Serves as liaison between end users and application vendors.
Provides general software support to all end users of business applications to include questions, error message research and resolution.
Provides business application training on demand.
Prepares reports using various report writing tools.
Provides support creating user profiles and menu security set‑up.
Provides support with daily operations to include creating purchase orders, invoice payments, and budget process.
Assists as backup for payroll processing procedures and report distribution.
Provides software support for GMBA, Extended Reporting, Payroll, Purchasing/Inventory, Utility Billing, Miscellaneous Receivables, Fleet Management, Fixed Assets, Tax System, Cash Receipts, Code Enforcement, Land Management, and Real Vision Software.
Trains system users on various system application modules upon request.
Receives, analyzes, schedules and resolves AS/400 software service requests including program modifications and new program requests.
Prepares required documentation needed to proceed with a programming request to include: file structures, pseudocode, and screen/report layout.
Tests programming request upon completion for data integrity, user friendliness, adherence to programming standards, and overall functionality.
Troubleshoots, researches, and resolves any error messages and/or problems called in by an AS/400 application user and/or system operator.
Contacts software vendor for technical advice and assistance to resolve issues involving program corrections.
Coordinates any vendor training, on site or via phone conference, upon request.
Channels any special programming changes required by a department to the software vendor.
Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all communications.
Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
Performs other related duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures
Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Required Education and Experience
Associate's degree or 60 college hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
At least one (1) year of experience in systems analysis, application design, and/or computer programming.

Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
