Position Summary Maintain the highest safety standards possible and oversee all yard operations, including personnel management, equipment, facility upkeep, customer service, inventory control, and scheduling. Provide exceptional customer service in a busy lumber yard environment, promote a positive teamwork culture, and mentor employees.

Extensive knowledge of safety procedures, products, yard equipment and material handling.

Duties Include Safety
Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Use proper PPE.
Maintain an organized, safe work environment.
Train and mentor employees on safety protocols.
Lead by example and address safety issues.
Customer Service
Greet customers promptly and professionally.
Provide accurate, efficient service and lead teammates in customer service.
Research and resolve customer complaints or conflicts.
Material Handling
Know product features, storage, and handling procedures.
Share knowledge with co‑workers.
Maintain a neat, clean yard and rotate stock.
Manage shrink, check invoices, returns, and transfers.
Prepare for and unload incoming product efficiently.
Stage loads for outgoing deliveries, ensure product quality, and wrap loads.
Use yard equipment safely and communicate issues.
General Duties/Expectations
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Develop skills through educational programs.
Maintain teamwork with yard, drivers, and sales staff.
Promote a positive, helpful attitude.
Provide feedback and mentoring to yard employees.
Hold daily morning meetings with the Yard Operations Manager.
Train and educate employees on all aspects of yard operations.
Conduct performance reviews annually and provide ongoing feedback.
Maintain appropriate staffing and schedule.
Document disciplinary action when necessary.
