THE JOB: As the Assistant Manager of Starbucks at Mandalay Bay, you will support the daily operations of a fast-paced, high-volume café that serves as a go-to destination for guests starting their day or recharging on the go. In this leadership role, you will help set the tone for an exceptional guest experience through your welcoming presence, genuine service, and attention to operational detail. By understanding each guest’s unique needs and preferences, you will own their experience—creating WOW moments they carry with them far beyond their stay—while supporting team engagement, operational excellence, and the consistent delivery of the Starbucks experience within the MGM Resorts environment.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Review daily schedules and manage time off and vacation requests, coach and train on policies, procedures, and performance
Supervise cashiers to ensure correct policies and procedures for check handling and closing are maintained by service staff as well as manage activities; means of access and egress, to ensure complete compliance with Health Department and Fire Marshall Regulations
Directly communicate with the Chef on all food service and menu issues
Assist in seasonal menu changes and holiday menu changes
Order supplies through the IP System and Purchasing
Exercise cost controls for all aspects of restaurant operation
Manage pricing and maintenance issues to ensure checks can be processed correctly
Direct communication with guests for special requests and large party reservations
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
High School Diploma or GED required
2+ Years of prior relevant service experience in a similar dining environment required
Experience as a Barista in Starbucks or a similar cafe environment preferred
Previous relevant Management experience in a Starbucks or a similar cafe environment preferred
Previous experience managing employees under a collective bargaining agreement preferred
Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays required
Must be 21 years of age or older
