A large base metals producer is looking for an experienced Manager of Engineering and Geology to join its team. The company’s vision is to be a safe and low cost producer of copper and molybdenum. Responsibilities

Oversee development of long and short range mine plans and clearly communicate plans with mine operations.

Lead and mentor the Mine Technical Team.

Monitor progress against plans and work with operations to achieve ore and waste placement goals.

Develop operating and capital budgets for Technical Services.

Oversee development drilling and block model updates.

Manage Life of Mine plan updates and annual resources and reserves reporting.

Provide engineering for pit dewatering and manage geotechnical risks using technology, mining methods, mine designs and monitoring systems.

Plan and monitor tailings storage facility construction and coordinate with the Engineer of Record and internal environmental teams.

Oversee tailings monitoring systems and reporting requirements.

Work with environmental teams on reclamation design and planning.

Support other earthworks projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Mine, Civil or Geological Engineering.

More than fifteen years of experience as a Mine Engineer.

Open cut and base metals experience preferred.

Experience leading technical and operating teams in mining required.

Strong understanding of safety practices and hazard recognition.

Experience with resources and reserves reporting, long term strategic mine planning, and short term mine planning and scheduling.

Practical understanding of geology, hydrology and geotechnical areas relevant to managing a multi disciplined team.

Experience with AutoCAD, MineSight or similar mine planning software.

Experience working in a continuous improvement culture.

Ability to complete tasks in various weather conditions.

Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision.

Ability to climb stairs or ladders and lift up to fifty pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
