A profitable, well-established OEM is actively seeking a Design Engineer to focus on designing custom equipment based on customer specifications and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including electrical engineering staff, under the guidance of an Engineering Manager. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Lead the design and detailed engineering of mechanical equipment for custom projects
Manage the design and detailing phases for multiple concurrent engineering projects
Utilize 3D modeling software for comprehensive design tasks, including the development of structures, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems
Coordinate with Electrical Engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical components into the mechanical design
Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to established project budgets and deadlines
Finalize design documentation for release to the manufacturing floor
Participate in internal meetings and maintain clear, consistent communication with production and sales teams
Interface directly with customers throughout the design process to ensure specifications are met
Develop and tailor technical equipment manuals for specific customer installations
Conduct customer site visits on a very limited basis; minimal overnight travel is expected
Complete additional engineering duties as assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS for the Design Engineer - Equipment:
High school diploma; a Bachelor's degree is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar mechanical design engineering position
Experience designing mechanical equipment
Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret and apply information from blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering documents
Solid understanding of strength of materials and mechanical calculations
Proficiency in utilizing 3D modeling software
Microsoft Office
Skills preferred but NOT required:
Experience with SolidWorks
Working knowledge of electrical system design
Experience designing hydraulic systems
