Schedule: 7am-7pm, Full-Time Days

Department: Emergency Department

Our

Emergency Department

is a 16-bed unit that specializes in providing immediate medical care for patients with severe or urgent illnesses or injuries. It is equipped to handle a wide range of services, including initial assessment, treatment, stabilization, emergencies, from minor injuries to life‑threatening conditions and potentially admission to the hospital. Our preferred patient ratio is 4:1.

The Paramedic serves as a member of the healthcare team by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with other team members to provide care that promotes optimal health. The paramedic utilizes best scientific evidence, protocols, and compassion to assist the care of the patient during their health journey. The Paramedic accepts accountability for provision of care, as part of the RN and physician‑led team, in accordance with the current policies, protocols and procedures.

Education and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

Experience: 2 years required for Emergency Department.

Licensure/Certification:

Paramedic Certification or Degree, required in appropriate state.

National Registry or an educational agreement to obtain National Registry within 18 months of hire, required.

Additional Skills (required) :

Must have ability to assess and/or interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age, as well as health and developmental needs.

Ability to successfully complete generic and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing.

Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in written documentation.

Excellent customer service skills.

Possesses the ability to prioritize job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.

Administer and evaluate medication therapies, perform patient transfers and transport patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.

Ability to lift and carry various equipment including portable cardiac monitors, etc.

Ability to provide routine care such as start IVs, perform dressing changes, etc., to patients in a timely manner.

Ability to perform in critical situations, including administering CPR.
