CRINC, LC
CDL Route Driver – Physical, Hands‑On Position
Pay: $24.90 – $30.00 per hour
Location: CRINC - 1600 E Euclid Ave. Des Moines, IA 50313
About Us CRINC is a trusted leader in container collection, processing, and logistics, proudly supporting beverage distributors across Iowa for over 41 years. With 15+ trucks on the road daily, we collect and process more than 160 million containers each year, serving all 99 counties and working closely with retailers, distributors, and redemption centers.
We’re expanding our team of CDL Route Drivers — and this isn’t your typical “sit-and-drive” trucking job. If you enjoy a fast‑paced, physically demanding role where every day is different, this is the opportunity for you.
Position Overview This position combines professional CDL driving with hands‑on, physical work. Drivers are responsible for safely operating a route truck while also loading deposit containers at every stop. Expect to spend a significant portion of your day moving product, verifying loads, and ensuring accuracy.
This is an active role requiring frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. In addition, drivers must be tech‑savvy, as you’ll manage tablets, electronic logs, and load documentation to ensure operational accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a Class A CDL route truck in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Load and unload deposit containers and recycling materials at multiple stops daily
Enter and verify load information accurately using company‑provided tablets
Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate logs
Maintain and update electronic driver logs (ELD)
Handle containers and materials up to 75 pounds, repeatedly throughout the day
Provide excellent customer service at redemption centers, Droppett locations, and distributor sites
Report any safety, vehicle, or operational concerns immediately
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the route
Physical Demands This role is physically intense and includes:
Repeatedly lifting up to 50-75 lbs
Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing
Entering/exiting the truck
Working outdoors in all weather conditions — including heat, cold, rain, and snow
If you’re looking for a traditional sit‑and‑drive job, this is not the right fit. But if you want an active, hands‑on driving career, you’ll thrive!
Required Skills & Qualifications
Valid Class A CDL and current DOT medical card (or ability to obtain before hire) & be able to use a 10‑speed synchronized transmission.
At least 1 year of CDL driving experience (preferred)
Must be comfortable with physically demanding work
Basic mechanical knowledge of trucks is helpful
Tech‑savvy — able to use tablets, enter accurate data, and manage ELD logs
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Exposure to residential, commercial, and industrial environments
Interaction with redemption centers, Droppett depots, and customers daily
Routes are local — drivers are home nightly
Schedule
Full‑time
Day shift with home‑daily routes
Monday – Friday, with occasional weekends as needed
Year‑round, stable work
Why Join CRINC? This is a role for drivers who want more than just driving.
